After purchasing the outstanding stock of Imagine Software’s back catalogue, Beau-Jolly simply created some new packaging, shoved the Imagine tapes inside and released their first compilation on the world… Value Pack 16k.

The four included games, Ah Diddums, Molar Maul, Jumping Jack and Arcadia had all been released a year earlier for the 16k Spectrum. You can watch our full video review of Value Pack 16k below, or read on for the edited highlights.
There were no reviews of Value pack back in the day, but this new approach of licencing other publishers work was certainly news worthy.

C&VG reported on the upcoming compilation and said that “if you missed some of these old Imagine favourites, now’s your chance to catch up”.
The packaging for Value pack is of utmost quality, housed in large, colourful square box. With a plastic inner tray, full colour instruction booklet and each game on its own tape is about as much as you could hope for. Which is why we scored it 10 marks out of 10.
To work out the value we divide the price (£14.99) by the total points the game received (25) and that gives us a ‘pence per point’ of 60p, which is only enough for 5 points.
The scores are then fed through the alorithm and give us an overall score for Value pack 16k of 67.5%.
